Positive Points:
D2H comes with the latest in technology, It uses MPEG-4/DVB-S2, thereby using optimum use of bandwidth and satellite TP space, I have found the D2H STB , the best in it’s class, As you can see D2H Symbol rates is 43978, Even the latest STBs from Humax, Fortecstar or coolsat does not have tuning facility of input symbol rates above 30000, It does a good job of tuning Mpeg-2/DVB-s signals from DD-Direct+, This makes it a very rare breed, Currently no STB available anywhere (Correct me if you find one) has a DVB-S2 SR tuning above 30/ms/ps, Also the various products like Sat-DVD, Sat-lcd SAT-TV etc are not available for any other DTH operator, This is pure utility for the price.
The picture quality of the STB is really good, Many of our friends in SOD have reported it to be great with LCDs too, If you compare the same with other DTH services, (maybe except BIG-TV), It can be described as excellent of the lot
The pricing of packages and Add-On are really affordable, No one offers so many premium channels for the base package price of Rs.150 or the all in one Rs.275.
The customer care so far has been excellent, They do not ask you too many questions, But the technical staff needs more training, Last time I called them to sort the kids package activated, the technician told me to to reset the box, while the website account showed me that my request was pending, Those things do not go well with all the customers.

Negative Points
I do not like the color combinations in the STB menu theme, An option to change it something very light is most welcome, Not that the theme is bad, This is personal.
Secondly I would like to have a self care portal like SD, I was using SD before, The customer calling cc just to activate an add-on, looks like an old-stone-age type service.
The STB is really good and stable, there are some software hiccups here and there, like you press the “home” button on the remote, and the box displays “sorry for inconvenience”, and selecting D2H movies in menu showing coming soon etc, But at the pace with which D2H update software, I think it will be rectified soon
Also heres a personal request to D2H , please activate the c-band capability of that box, I don’t think Edusat programs and channels like Euronews etc, will be available on DTH soon, as only few users will be using it, Also please have the box autoscan, That is not going to hurt you in anyway, As people asking for these are looking for both FTA and pay-tv , they can use one stb or sat-tv to get both goodies, It can be the best reason for those looking for a single box solution for both FTA and Paid DTH to go for D2H.
A lot of complaints regarding the SAT-DVD contrast problem was reported on the net, However all of them seems to have been solved , Also it can be seen that many of the dealers named on D2H website has not got the products so far, It will be better if D2H actually supplies all products to the dealers on time, Now if you go and ask for a particular model from D2H website, The dealer is simply surprised and is not even aware that product exists. These problems need to be addressed as soon as possible, Otherwise we have a true winner here.

I have read your review of Videocon D2H and got one installed. I have cable TV as well as Videcon D2H. I find the color rendering in the cable signal much more life like than in Videocon. Is there anyway of adjusting the set top box for color settings?

Well Picture Quality is great compare to local cable and some of DTH and you will enjoy viewing with Videocon D2H. As from users feedback, their after sale service is excellent and that’s the reason why it was voted product of year award! Yes that contrast problem is still their but it’s manageable and wouldn’t make big difference.

the videcon d2h is the worst worst thing ever seen in my life
i have currently buy this product videcon lcd 32inch d2h and i have faced so many promblems in installation
nobody no how to solve technical promblems their staff were very poor.

I don’t know how ur customer care works? I had bought one set up box 54hrs ago but still the installation engineers are not coming for the installation. I had made contact with them for 15 times. The no of the person is 09238310083 and my no is 09583458077. My customer ID is 18827246.So I found the customer service is the worst.
i have purchased sat-dvd last year after installation i was facing picture quality was very poor and the contrast was not matching with my lcd of 37 inch panasonic. my complaint was solved slowly and steadly but still the picture quality requires little improvement at par with MPEG-4 STANDARD and more over SAT-DVD PICTURE Quality is not up to the mark.requires improvement rest all very good (packages,customer services)
Good review. U are not commenting on Pic color contrast sharpness and very bad Audio. All music beats get vanished. Flat transistor type sound quality. Very high compression, very bad quality means MP4 DVBS2. It is not advanced tech for viewers.

This article published few months ago and that time picture quality somehow good but recent months Videocon D2H added many channels and we know they have less transponders to carry more then 250 Channels and services and that’s reason to have such low picture quality with Videocon D2H.
