The Android operating system is truly a universal mobile OS for any kind of device and any purpose. And of course, as a product aimed at mainstream use, it can do most of the tasks that normal people want done. It can help you manage time, edit documents, watch movies, surf the web and listen to music.
Android’s path to being an OS fully capable of playing any kind of media was a bit hard and is still not over (there are a lot of unsupported movie formats, but players like Rockplayer are slowly changing things). Today, you can easily find apps for music, but most of them still need to be improved with new features and better interfaces. Developers are working on the issues though, and they should fix all the problems in a matter of months at most.
In this article, you’ll find some of the best applications designed for music and aimed at music lovers.
TuneWiki
TuneWiki is one of the best social music players on the market. While listening to your songs (whether local or streamed) you can search for lyrics, find out information about the artist and song, find out whether other users like it and purchase it online from any music store.
Pandora
Pandora is a great free source of music. You can’t really choose the songs, but you can create personalized stations that would stream various songs from the artists you choose directly to your phone, wherever you are in the US or Canada. You can share your stations with others, find out what is popular, and purchase the songs online, similar to TuneWiki.
Lyric Search
This application allows you to do just what its name says: search for lyrics. It uses LyricWiki.org for its searches, and you can search by song name, artist name and a part of the lyrics. You can then buy the song online on Amazon and send the lyrics by SMS or email.
Imeem mobile
Imeem is basically like Pandora above, but it works internationally, so it’s the only choice for people outside North America. They don’t have the same amount of songs in their database (yet), but they still have an impressive collection, which you should check out even if you can use Pandora. The rest of the features are similar: create personalized playlists, stream, share and buy the music you like.
Shazam
Shazam is a very useful tool for identifying any song that is playing on the radio, TV or that you just remembered. You just have to start the application, and draw the phone near the radio or TV set or even sing it yourself. The app will identify the song and let you search for lyrics or buy it on Amazon.
Last.fm
Last.fm is the place to go if you need a online streaming radio station with the largest collection of songs. You can also find out information about the artists and songs, search for lyrics and future concerts, order the songs on Amazon – all while listening to the radio station of your liking and customization.
RingDroid
This is a great Android application that lets you create ringtones from any mp3 files you have or any recordings you just made with your phone. You can edit the part that will play and the length of the ringtone right on your phone (like a basic audio editing app), then save the resulting mp3 file and set it as a ringtone.
There are other good music players and utilities for Android, but the above ones are the best, and you won’t regret getting them (especially the free ones

Pandora must have
Last FM is better than pandora..you get unlimited skips not just 6 like Pandora.
There’s actually a free Android mobile cloud music app available from Mufin. The first 1 gig of music storage is totally free and that’s enough to stream about 250 of your tracks. Well worth a look http://www.mufin.com/us/
The mufin player is now available as a free music app for Android phones and streams 250 (1G) tracks to your handset free from the cloud. The touch screen music map is also very cool. http://www.mufin.com/us/#/software/mufinplayermobile
