by Admin on August 26, 2010

Gingerbread is the name that Google has chosen to name the next full upgrade of its mobile operating system, the Android 3.0. In a more or less hidden developing process, it has leaked to the press that the next version of the Android platform will be released at the end of the year, and that the video section would be one of the main new improvements for the end user.

NVIDIA has set his eyes on Android, and the its developments looks to be a huge advantage for the end user. The well-known graphics card manufacturer is preparing a unit for the mobile platform based on Google to monetize through a very reliable source for its graphic cards with 3D capabilities. To do this, we expect the future installation on Android of mobile dual-core ARM chips, which compare in power to Intel Atom processors that the U.S. manufacturer plans for the next Android.

In addition, Android 3.0 Gingerbread would be fully compatible with the next video standards that Google introduced in the first conference of its operating system developers: the WEBM.

Regarding the media presentation application, the battle between Flash and HTML5, WEBM pointed out to a development of the latter, which is prone to be successful, using the audio and video codec Ogg Vorbis and VP8, respectively. This support will have a major role in providing parts to the high quality audiovisual monetizing as much as possible, disregarding the weight of the file, which is important considering the storage capacity in the mobile Android terminal.

For other functions included in the Android 3.0 Gingerbread, Google has not revealed anything else. Since there are still about six months left to launch the next edition of the operating system, it would not be surprising that in the coming weeks further information about new features on Android 3.0 Gingerbread begins dripping on the tech blogs.
