This is a nice looking smartphone if you like different styles. The screen is big for the overall size. That size is about right for a pocket. It is 4.7 inches tall and 2.35 inches wide. With a winning profile, what could be missing in the Dell Mini 3 ? Answer is; “Not much.”.

The screen is a very satisfying three and half inches in size. That is 8.89 centimeters for you readers not in the United States. It is the capacitive touch screen type, so there is no need to press hard on the screen to get it to do what you want. It also has the much-coveted multi-touch feature where you can pinch the screen and zoom into a closer view. The accelerometer almost does not need an introduction, since it is so common on most all ( if not all ) smartphones. The resolution is a high-quality 360 by 640 pixels. A proximity sensor is thrown in for good measure. It turns off the Dell 3 when you are not using it.

The Dell Mini 3ix has the Android operating system controlling it. The Android software is wildly popular at the moment and has managed to gain 50,000 applications. That is 50,000 new things you make your Dell 3 do. From keeping track of your friends in real time, to saving money with a bar code reader, Android applications are usually cheaper than the iTunes apps for iPhone. This smartphone is highly connected in the social world and connects with AIM, Yahoo and MSN, believe it or not. A browser for the web is included, of course. If you happen to get the Chinese model it is running the OPhone software, not the Android.

The camera is a 3.2 megapixel creation. It comes with most of the quality features of a high-end smartphone. It has autofocus, LED flash, and geotagging. Geotagging allows you to know where it was you took a picture, or to categorize photos more easily. The Mini 3 does not come with a FM radio.

For data conections, the sky is the limit. Everything but infrared ( W who uses infrared anymore ? ) is included. Wi-Fi is included up to the “G” mode. There is no WiMax. For voice connections, the Dell 3 has quad band GSM ( 2G ) and tri band HSDPA ( 3G ). Dell Mini 3 models to China do not get Wi-Fi.

The internal memory included in the Dell Mini 3 is 256 megabytes. A slot for the huge 32 gigabyte MicroSD card is included. What colors do you get to choose from ? How about “Oiled Bronze” and “Ocean Blue” ? Maybe this smartphone is for the beach ? It is available with a connection at AT&T.
