It was only a matter of time before 3D technology was introduced into the world of mobile phones. The HTC Evo 3D brings your life to the palm of your hand, with a dual camera that can shoot video and capture photos in 3D. The screen displays them without the need for those daft glasses as well.

The screen itself stretches 4.3” and is, as you would expect, incredibly crisp and vibrant. It only displays 3D in landscape orientation, which is the only slight downside, but it wouldn’t look half as impressive in portrait. The dual 5MP camera lets you shoot in 720p and, if you have one, you can stream it straight onto your 3D TV at home. 3D photographs are shot in 2MP while the 2D snaps use the 5MP capability to the max.

Much like on the Sensation, HTC have included the Watch function on the Evo, which gives you the option to buy films to watch instantly on your mobile. They have also promised to make a few 3D films available for purchase so you can get the most out of the Evo 3D. Avatar might not look or, indeed, sound as impressive on a 4.3” device, but it is a cool function nonetheless.

If you’re worried that the added function will only serve to slow the phone down and eat the battery within a couple of hours, then fear not: the Evo packs a whopping 1.2GHz dual core processor with a 1GB memory, maintained by a 1730mAH battery.

HTC Sense is as smooth and sexy as ever and, with the sheer power of the processor, it seldom runs in stops and starts. It would look great, with the rotating home screens and all, if the display was permanently in 3D, but this really would eat your battery for breakfast before you’ve even finished yours.

The Evo comes with all the features we know so well from HTC, like the ‘flip to silence’ function and the fact that it rings louder when it’s in a bag and you’re on a busy street – it just knows. It also comes with the option to download and store maps on the device itself, so you won’t have to wait through any lengthy loading times.

The maps are unfortunately not in 3D, but the function is admittedly pretty funky. Whether it is worth the extra cost (or the extra weight) is another matter. The only thing that makes the Evo different from the Sensation is, of course, the 3D function, so it would be worth considering how much use you would actually get out of it before you commit to owning one. Is it a novelty that would wear off after two weeks or will it ignite an underlying passion for photography in you?

With the unrest in Egypt, HTC seems to have come up with a related name for one of their latest smartphones. They named it the Pyramid. HTC is known for making big bold smartphones with decent processors inside. The HTC Pyramid will be one to make history for them, if the rumors are true. Depending on who you listen to, this is going to be the first smartphone from HTC to have a dual core processor. Since HTC and Qualcomm have worked closely together in the past, it is not a far fetched idea to think that the new dual-core 1.2 gigahertz Snapdragon processor, machinated as “MSM8260″, will be in the Pyramid. That is what some are saying, anyway. The GPU ( Graphical Processing Unit ) will be the Adreno 220.

The screen for this new beast of a phone will be strikingly clear and favorably large. The display is slated for 4.3 inches in size. That is one of those smartphones that stretches across the hand and is stubborn to get into pockets. It is one small step under a “tablet” screen. The resolution of the HTC Pyramid display will be 960 by 540 pixels of power. For comparison, the iPhone 4 has 640 by 960 pixels of resolution, but in a smaller screen ( 3.5 inches ). The Pyramid resolution has been given a name; qHD. That stands for “quarter high definition”. It is the same screen resolution of the Motorola Atrix.

With a lively processor and a clarion display, the HTC Pyramid is loaded for bear. Thanks to the chosen processor and GPU, this smartphone will be able to do some uncommon stunts. One is that it will be able to handle a 16 megapixel camera. Will it actually have one with that large of a specification ? Only HTC knows for sure. Other things the Pyramid will be able to do is to handle HSPA+ networks. This is like 4G but faster. The numbers are; 14 megabits per second for download and 5.6 megabits for upload. The T-Mobile network is slated to receive this HTC smartphone and they are already looking at 21 megabits per second speeds for a Samsung model. All the other “normal” wireless networks can also be supported like; EDGE, GPRS and GSM.

With the powerful Qualcomm dual core processor the HTC Pyramid will be able to record and playback in 1080p high definition format. The HTC HD7 is already for sale over at T-Mobile. It runs the Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system and also has a 4.3 inch screen. It is assumed that this HTC Pyramid will add some spice to the mix and be running Android, hopefully in the latest Android 2.3 gingerbread version but it may possible that HTC Pyramid comes with Android 2.4 OS. This is the gingerbread version and supports things like NFC ( Near Field Communications ) accounts. Nokia has this in their phones and Samsung put it into the last Google Phone. NFC is going to be big, but there is no guarantee the Pyramid will have it. As from TMO, HTC Pyramid set June release timeframe though the actual date is unknown.

If it is named after the Neo in the Matrix trilogy, so much the better, it looks the part. This handset is 126 grams ( four ounces ) of blue red or silver communicating power. The exterior dimensions are 4.6 inches tall by 2.24 inches wide by .51 inch in thickness. That equals out to 116 millimeters by 57 millimeters by 13 millimeters for those not in the United States. There is no manual keyboard for this smartphone, so all typing will be done on the “virtual” keyboard; the screen.

The Neo can accept a MicroSD card up to 32 gigabytes in size. The RAM memory is not posted yet, but is likely going to be 512 megabytes like its siblings.

Bluetooth for the Neo is still in an older version. All the other wireless data channels are there except for 4G ( WiMaX, LTE, HSDPA+ ) connections. That includes a stereo FM radio. The radio can be listened to with the 3.5 millimeter head phone jack. The other wired connection is the Micro USB port.
