Simple but effective Weight Loss Tips

by Admin on March 10, 2010

Most of the people will aim to lose a few pounds at some point in their lives and even though some of us need to lose a whole lot more weight than others the process remains basically the same – you need to eat fewer calories than your body uses. It is much harder for severely obese people to lose weight though, as it can take longer for them to achieve their goals and stay motivated and because they got used to thinking a certain way about food and exercise, their attitude can be very hard to change. If you are trying to lose weight you must learn to never give up.

The most important weight loss tip you need to remember is that to lose weight you must eat. Yes, you will lose weight if you stop eating anything, but most of it will be in the form of water and that is not good because the body will go into starvation mode and start accumulating even more calories when you’ll undobtedly start eating again, making it even harder to lose weight. This is one of the reasons so many diets and workout routines require you to drink a lot of water. Weight loss requires you to eat healthy foods which aren’t simply semi-fabricated to beused in a microwave oven or bought from a fast-food chain and eating them at regular intervals. It is also very important to reduce the size of the portions, which at first will be hard to adapt to if you’re used to eating large meals everytime. You may also have a different perception of what constitutes a reasonable meal size and could still eat more than needed.

Physical exercise and workouts are also an important key to weight loss because not only you have to eat less calories, but also burn more of them during workouts, which will accelerate the whole process. High intensity exercises are also great for your heart and spirit, but even low-level workouts can sufficiently increase your metabolism. You must also find an activity that you’ll enjoy doing because it will be a lot easier to keep going if you’re having fun, and also incorporate physical exercise into your daily schedule, so that walking or jogging to work rather than driving there becomes the norm, not the exception.

There are also other factors which maybe out of your control sometimes, like for example stress levels. When you are stressed your body tends to turn to saving mode, which will store as much food as possible in case something bad happens (this is an evolutionary reflex left from times when people had to worry about food supplies and predators every day) and that’s why it’s important to learn how to regain your calm (you could do it by meditating) or to find other ways to cope with stress besides turning to food. Sleep also plays an important role when trying to lose and control your weight. Getting a good eight hours of night sleep can be very beneficial for your weight loss diet.

If you really need to eat the foods you like, learn to do so in moderation. This would allow you to lose weight while still indulging into the type of food you love. You can sometimes go all out, but it is preferable to control your desire and not let your body take control over you.

The only thing missing from the above list discipline. Unfortunately, you are the only one who can develop it in yourself (unless you want to join the military). It’s something which cannot be easily taught, but can be very useful to have not only for your pursuit of weight loss, but also for other life goals.
