Owners of the Samsung Intercept on the virgin Mobile network should be pleased to know that the Android 2.2 update will start to roll-out on April 11. Text messages have already been sent out to Intercept owners by the company them of the availability of the update.

Although the latest version of Android for smartphones is Android 2.3 gingerbread, the update to Froyo is a welcome announcement. A website is provided to customers with the procedure on how to upgrade their OS OTA.

With this upgrade several new features will be enjoyed by Intercept owners such as the ability to install applications on external storage devices, enhance Bluetooth support and upgraded performance.

The Android 2.2 Froyo update was initially announced to be released on March 25 however this did not materialize. If you own the Samsung Intercept under the Virgin Mobile network then try to check if you are already capable to update your smartphone. Don’t worry if you still don’t see the updates since the carrier is rolling them out by phases.
