The Galaxy is a sleek looker and built very solid. It has that expensive look about it. It has been out in Europe for awhile now, namely France and Germany. Samsung has a model destined for the United States, called the “Galaxy S”. The screen is a superior work over most models of smartphones. It is not just the latest AMOLED technology, but is one level above AMOLED, which Samsung is calling “Super” AMOLED. It is bright and sips battery power less than an LCD screen. The ability to see things on the screen even in sunlight is increased dramatically. The Galaxy is very pocketable since it is just .47 inches (11.9 millimeters ) thick.

The buttons below the capacitive touch screen include the call “end” and “start” buttons, a D-Pad “okay” button, home and menu. The screen features a light sensor to help control display brightness. It has the accelerometer to do the automatic switch from portrait to landscape mode by turning the smartphone to the side.

The Samsung Galaxy contains one very hot operating system; the Android by Google. This particular Samsung unit will have either version 1.5 or 2.1. Be sure to get one with 2.1 to enjoy the “pinch and zoom” function of multi touch. Android is breaking out with over 50,000 applications you can use to save time or money or just play games. The 800 megahertz processor helps you to keep from crashing the Galaxy if you happen top open a bunch of programs. YouTube, Google talk, Gmail, Google Search and more are included in the Android programs.
