Finally after a long duration of time Reliance BIG TV have now started their channel addition process. Before this they added few of the channels in September 2009 and since then Reliance BIG TV added only 1 channel in January 2010 but now today Reliance BIG TV added few channels to its customer and they brings Fox Channels in India as well. Reliance BIG TV is only second Direct To Home Operator in India who brings Fox Channels in India after Sun Direct DTH. Reliance added 3 Fox Channels FX (English Entertainment Channel) , Fox Crime (English Entertainment Channel) and NGC HD (Informative HD Channel) to enable their customers to watch International Channels at their home. As from our internal source suggest other Fox Channels like Baby First TV, Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Music and Nat Geo Adventure will be shortly available with Reliance BIG TV’s Reliance HD PVR services which will be launching within next 2 weeks. Reliance BIG TV not only added these international channels to it’s viewers but they also added long term promised channels which were scheduled to launch in October 2009 which are Adithya TV ( Tamil Regional Channel ), Navvulu Tv (Telugu Regional Channel) and Ushe TV (Kannada Regional Channel). So now South Indian BIG TV user will get Adithya TV, ), Navvulu Tv and Ushe TV on Reliance BIG TV DTH.

Apart from these channels Reliance BIG TV also added Live India (News Channel) and HomeShop 18 (24 Shopping Channel) to it’s viewer, as well as new Radio channel Radio Netherlands too added on Reliance BIG TV. Now on other terms Reliance BIG TV also removed India News ( News Channel ) from it’s platform. They also increase Choice Pay Channels from current offering of 5 to 10. So overall Reliance BIG TV did excellent job with new channels addition! Apart from this Reliance BIG TV is also going to launch two new interactive services iShopping and iHoliday which are showing Coming Soon at the moment. They have also removed iCricket and iNews interactive service from it’s platform.

It is ridiculous, if true, on the part of BIG.
These are promised channels and part of the respective regional packs and should have been available by Oct 15 2009 (as declared during Sep 2nd week of 2009).
In spite of inordinate delay in bringing the channels to BIG Platform, BIG decides to charge @ 17 per month.
We have to move to TRAI or take some other legal measures. Big Grin
Let us wait and see until they officially announce.

BIG Tv already introduced these packs and we have the packs information, BIG TV viewers will get to know in 1-2 days! As from their view, I don’t think so that we can’t do anything against them as they have rights to increase price without any problems!

As from our source Discovery Channels likely to be added in May, not sure about Discovery Sci and Turbo but Discovery HD will make debut on Reliance BIG TV HD.

Yes it is available with Tatasky from many days and soon these channels will be available on other DTHs too as Summer started and IPL finished, Discovery knows that it’s best time to launch these channels on Digital Platform.
It is ridiculous.First they promise to give Navullu TV from 15 Oct 09 as part of Telugu regional pack.They use to charge us for the channel yet to be aired on Big TV and Now after 6 months when they air this channel and they are charging Rs 17.
Its very nice that many channels got added on BIG TV platform. Regarding fox channels, will these channels be available in platinum pack ? Because platinum pack supposed to have all the channels or it is condition from fox group to keep it as add-on ?

Yes it’s strange to see they are charging money for this channel. I will advice South Indian users to call them then complain them so they feel pressure and add these channels in respective regional packs.

Well at the moment Fox Channels are only available with International Add On pack only, so you have to activate new Add-on to watch Fox Channels! Regarding on Condition, I can’t make any comments since it’s commercial agreement between Star Dan and Reliance BIG.

I’ve been following your articles from long time and gotta admit that u guys are doing a gr8 job. this is indeed a great news that BIG TV is finaly launching HD service but only one HD channel common i was expecting atleast 5. do you have any details about type of STB big tv is gonna provide and what about pricing ect.
Amit Bhai, Let me express my own perception of Navvulu & saakshi and other regional channels.
I had continued with BIG and opted Long Duration South Platinum for one year, since it has been announced by BIG that Navvulu will be available from Oct 15 2009 and Saakshi will also be available (though no commitment of date from which it’ll be available). I wish that there will be many like me
We are deprived of these channels for about Six months, now it is learnt that the channel costs Rs. 17.
Hence BIG must remit the requisite amount for the period for which we are deprived of it and must allow the channel to whomever are eligible
Let us all not take the issue lightly, on the conception that Sun is charging more from BIG. Its all not necessary for us. Whatever has been announced and promised shall be made available for us immediately

Well I fully agree with you they are showing these channels is part of regional pack and we don’t care if broadcaster increase price of these channels as it’s BIG TV’s own problem not us.
And it’s time for us to wake up and make call them again and again. I am sure if we together make complains against it, we surly make changes!
Thanks for adding these channels. But BIG Tv is not able to add North-Easten channels like DY365, RANG Channel which are extreamly popular in NE. Thats bad news.

Well yes DTH operators are not adding too many channels of North East but one fact which we should have to accept that most of NE channels are FTA hence they have to pay carriage fees to DTH operators which they are not going to pay so none of DTH operators including Reliance BIG TV add channels from North East. So broadcaster have to thing about it as once channel added it will reach whole India which is good for broadcasters too and that’s why we have more South Indian languages channels then other part of India on most of DTH.

1. Why is there no option to remove subtitles from channels like Star Movies, HBO, Zee Studio, etc.?
2. Are there any plans in progress to add Fox package to basic diamond/platinum packages anytime soon?
3. Why is there no online management? Currently there is no way to add/remove packs/change basic packs online.

Thanks for your question and I am happy to answer you.
1. It is not possible to remove sub-titles from English Movies channels since it comes from Broadcaster itself.
2. Their is no progress to see Fox Channels in regular pack but we strongly believe that Fox Channels will be available to regular packs in 2-3 months.
3. Reliance BIG TV is only DTH in India who doesn’t offer such a system and We still don’t know reason behind it.
Another dozen channels today (some of them are under testing for quite some time and some are new). Let us see how they are gong to charge for the channels that are not free.
Anyway a good news for us before the 2nd anniversary of BIG

In Reliance BIG TV which is now Reliance Digital TV, you can’t add/activate channels from website but you need to mail them so they can activate those channels for you.
