by Admin on August 24, 2010

Broadband internet in offices and homes is quite common today, but what do you do if you want to use the internet when you are out of home or office? Over the recent years, development in technology has provided alternatives to stay connected at all times even if you are not at home or office. Two such technologies include mobile internet via dongle and smartphones.

Mobile phones are no longer just phones; instead they act like mini computers that can be used for basic internet surfing like accessing company blogs, checking emails, checking updates on sales statistics, etc. There are some smartphones that offer much more. The other option is to use a dongle in your laptop. This enables you to use all the bookmarks, files and softwares that you could access at home or in your office.

Now comparing the two, how do you know which is best for you?

If your needs are just to read or write some mails, then there is no requirement of a laptop. You can use your smartphone wherever you go and since you would already carry it with you, there is no need to carry any extra stuff to stay connected all the time.

However, since the screen of a smartphone is quite small, it maybe quite annoying to use the internet via one. A laptop and dongle on the other hand can be used for easier access and convenience.

A smartphone has a major disadvantage that when you cannot answer or make calls and surf the internet at the same time. What do you do if someone makes a call when you are in the process of downloading an important file?

Many people think that a dongle is expensive but there are options where you can pay for just as much internet you use. There are several pay options that you may find reasonable.

Finally, concluding on which is best, smartphone or laptop+ dongle, depends on what kind of purpose you have in mind. Both options have their own advantages and disadvantages as mentioned above. A smartphone would be the best option if you just need to check some important information or an important confirmation mail while a laptop+ dongle would be best in case you have a lot of internet to use and you want the comfort of using a big screen with all the conveniences that a desktop would offer.

Hello,
The software of the dongle has to be installed only once.
With the smartphone internet connection through datacable can be done only with the proprietary software coming along with the phone.

Can anybody guide to connect the smartphone through bluetooth?..
