Losing Weight Will Affect More Than Your Looks Only

by Admin on February 27, 2010

We often want to lose a few pounds in order to fit into a dress for an upcoming event. At that moment, weight loss is only a means to look good and fit into your best dress.

But losing weight and maintaining a healthy body is much more important. Here are some of the reasons weight loss matters:

1. Health should and must be the most important issue and you should lose weight keeping in mind you’ll be healthier and feel better. Excess weight can cause long-term health problems that can make your life a living hell in most cases. Take for example heart diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer – these are not pleasant experiences and they’re all linked to obesity. If left unchecked, excess weight will take its toll.

2. Your energy levels also suffer from extra weight. Obese people have much less energy for their daily and recreational activities. They have difficulties with anything that requires endurance, strength and stamina. It is almost impossible for them to participate in any physical activities or competitions with other people.

3. Weight loss can have a major impact on your confidence levels. Overweight people are very often shy about participating in social activities and events. They can constantly think about their peers’ opinion of them when they meet someone or enter a room full of people. Weight loss can improve the situation dramatically. Instead of worrying about obesity, those who have gone through weeks of diet and exercise can now be confident in their powers and social acceptance. They’re often proud of their achievement and don’t mind showing it to everyone around.

4. Overweight people can spend too much time thinking about their obesity problem. They feel rejected because they’re always trying to justify their weight for themselves and often miss the real importance of each moment. Obsession with weight can take up a lot of energy and time that would otherwise be used for creative activities. Losing weight takes away all of these worries and allows the person to become focused what is really important in life.

To determine just how much is obesity affecting your life, try to make a top ten list of things that you think are important. Then write how much does your weight affect every one of those points. Afterwards, list how things would change if you lost weight. This will give you a pretty good idea how weight loss will improve your life and how it is important for more than just looks.
