CES 2010 was the debut location for the LG premium INFINIA 3D TV that is going to change the world. Infinia is a sub-brand of LG that includes the top products that they sell including what could be their hottest selling TV ever, the flagship LE9500. The fully featured 47-inch LE9500 is the cream of the crop with a full LED slim panel that has superior direct LED backlighting rather than edge LCD and over 200 dimmable zones that gives it the best contrast and black levels of any TV on the market. It’s only 23 mm deep too. It has a narrow bezel that has the borderless tag line. It has an Ethernet port and wi-fi connectivity with built-in Skype and a freeview HD tuner too. You can even watch anything you want in 3D.
The LG TV is amazing because it creates a shutter-free 3D TV experience without the need for special glasses that enhance the experience. It is hoping to sell at least 1 million of these babies and take up a quarter of the market in the process. There are a small sub-set of companies that are betting that 3D will become the next big thing on the market.
LG Electronics is based in South Korea, and it wants to increase market share aggressively for the 3D market in the number of premium TVs it sells to compete with higher-end offerings from Sony. They want to have a 3D TV market share that is 10 percentage points higher than their LCD TV sales target. LG Electronics has its biggest competitors as Samsung and Sony, and they said it expects the 3D TV market to grow to around 3.8 million units this year and to more than 13 million in 2011 alone. This is a robust goal for a serious company that is going to take the world by storm and show that storm in 3D on their television set so that people can really feel that storm. All metaphors aside, this is a breakthrough in 3D TV technology because the TVs don’t require glasses and can be installed right at home instead of going out to a big theater to see the movie with glasses. You can watch Avatar at home in 3D.
Seeing the TV up close, you can really get a feel for how huge it is. It comes in 55-inch and 47-inch varieties, and it is classified as an ultraslim LED LCD TV except that it has 3D built in too. There is even a 72-inch model that is coming out. It has a thin bezel of only 8.5mm too, and it brings this amazing technology into the home without being too intrusive, obtrusive, or annoying.
It is a truly beautiful thing to look at and take in with your eyes, and you will need your full attention to view this beautiful piece of work. It is truly a work of art that showcases the best of what TVs have to offer.
