The Lenovo Thinkpad x100e is a small netbook that packs a lot of punch. It has been placed on a virtual pedestal by technology enthusiasts that claim it is a good mixture between a small netbook and a larger 13-inch or 14-inch ultraportable computer. It has an AMD Neo processor and ATI grphics combination that has more power than a typical Intel Atom N450-powered netbook and an 11.6-inch screen with chassis that can enable a bigger keyboard and touchpad. This is the perfect mobile computer. It is only $600 too, and that includes tax. It comes in a bright red design that is sure to garner attention too.
The machine has angular edges and a box-like look that mark it as a traditional Thinkpad in all its contours. Its official color is heatwave red. It goes after the rebellious professional that is out just as much to get ahead in the world as he is to set a trend and change the world. Lenovo doesn’t even call it a netbook because it is slightly bigger than the 10-inch netbooks that most people are used to carring. It can fit into a book bag, and you can carry it in your hand. It has a weight of 3.3 pounds, and the only negative is a huge six-cell battery that sticks out of the rear. There are some extra parts like a USB port times 3, VGA, Ethernet, mic jack, and an SD card slot that covers the chassis. It’s odd that they don’t call it a netbook because many technology enthusiasts swear it is a netbook. This spill-resistant keyboard with a chiclet layout to its keys is so addicting that people just have to go back for more. The black matte keys that are also curved are fun to look at, type on, and feel ergonomic in your hands. The keys look like they have been molded to your hands. There are a diversity of navigation buttons so it is very easy to get around.
The performance and battery life are stunning too. It uses a 1.6Ghz Athlon Neo MV-40 with 2GB of RAM and a 5,400rpm 250GB hard drive made this computer really snappy when it surfed the web. You can use Microsoft Word to write up anything and Windows Media Player to watch anything on this computer because it comes with all the features that make a computer worth having. There are no skimped features simply because it’s a small computer. It has the ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated GPU that has better HD performance than the majority of Atom netbooks. It can stream 720p YouTube videos, and it can show 1080p content as well.
The battery life comes in at around 3 hours and twenty-seven minutes, and the bottom of the computer can get increasingly hot if you leave it on for too long. This lap-burning temperature is a fairly common problem, and the Lenovo Thinkpad has few downsides, but this is one of them.
