The unveiling of the Apple iPad did not really match to its expectations with many disappointed in it. This was not due to the anticipated first generation bugs or the peculiar name Apple decided to give it. There is a huge list of things that the iPad lacks, such as the lack of Flash support, 16:9 support, the ability to multitask, USG ports, SD card slot, and HDMI or high – resolution video output support. Furthermore, the iPad is exclusive to AT&T with the 3G wireless option costing an additional $130 with a monthly data limit of 250MB. This might be insignificant for people that rely heavily on the internet for their daily activities.
Logically speaking, eventually Apple will add new features to future models of the iPad but we cannot deny the fact that it is still a work in progress. Most people prefer to wait for a future version of the iPad rather than purchasing the first generation filled with bugs and limited features. Another problem is that most people need to be convinced that the iPad is a better selection than a notebook.
Apple should not promote the iPad as a better alternative than a notebook. One advantage of the iPad is that it is a sophisticated news print reader with plans to replace paper. This idea is quite ahead of its time although the concept of a tablet computer is not new because Microsoft has been developing one for years. Some feel that Apple should focus marketing the iPad as a device that can be effective in the educational process in schools or used as a sophisticated method to read our daily news.
Some people are implementing the wait and see attitude with the iPad. They prefer to stick with their laptops for now and observe the future developments of the iPad before purchasing one. The bugs in the first generation of iPads should be worked out.
