If you had to choose between an HTC HD2 and HTC Evo 4G, which one would you take ? If you do not know yet, the answer is just a few paragraphs away. Take a look at the facts here in this quick article.
Sizewize, these two smartphones are just about twins. The difference in thickness is three tenths of an inch, with the HD2 being the skinnier of the two. That is 1.7 millimeters for all those on the metric system, which is most of you. The weight is also nearly the same and you would hardly notice a difference if you held them both in your hands at the same time. The main differences are on the inside for these two smartphones from HTC, although one does have a kickstand in the back. That would be the Evo 4G.
The HD2 runs the Windows Mobile Pro ( 6.5 ) software and the Evo 4G uses Android from Google. It is an easy choice for many, because at the moment Android has the spotlight. Both smartphones are extremely fast because they run the same Snapdragon processor. It is named correctly and programs are load “snappy” on both models. The memory on the Evo 4G is a bit on the losing side, though. It has 440 megabytes of internal memory space while the HD2 has a whopping one gigabyte. They both have a slot for a MicroSD card, so the internal memory may be moot for some people who like to load up on files. A quick note for the HTC HD2 is that HTC provides a sixteen gigabyte card for free. The Evo 4G free card is half that size.
The looks of both smartphones are great. You may even mistake one for the other if you do not look close enough. Where you have to look is on the back side. The Evo 4G model has a kickstand to prop it up with. This is for viewing videos. The Evo 4G has a special wireless connection called “WiMax” that allows it to gobble up information about ten times faster than the HD2 with its “lowly” Wi-Fi connection. The WiMax standard is what gives the Evo its name since 4G stands for WiMax in the technical terms of the mobile world.
When it comes to cameras there is also no comparison. The Evo 4G has an eight megapixel bruiser of a camera and the HD2 just has five megapixels. The video capture of the Evo 4G is so good they included an HDMI connector to hook it up to view the videos you take on your television or monitor. The Evo takes video at high-definition levels, the other at VGA levels. They both come with flash. They both come with a FM radio and 3.5 millimeter headphone jack. They both come with a music player.
They both come with email, instant messaging and all the high-powered services you expect from a smartphone. The battery in the Evo 4G is more powerful at 1500 mAh compared to 1230 mAh for the HD2. The winner is definitely the HTC Evo 4G simply because of its more powerful wireless connection and camera. If you are one who needs to be riding the wave of technology, the Evo is the winning smartphone.

With the HTC JOGGR”, viewing documents, browsing web pages or going through menus is fast and simple on the HTC S620.

Actually both of these statements are false. http://bit.ly/9d1jbl and http://bit.ly/bFHAA6 clearly show that the EVO 4G will have 1GB of ROM while the HD2 only has 512mb. You mention memory, but what you are referring to is the RAM and that stands at 512 MB for the EVO4G and 448 MB for the HD2. You also neglect to mention the EVOs ability to tether up to 8 wifi devices, acting as a mifi device and the front facing 1.3 MP camera.
Also you incorrectly state that the microsd card shipping with the HD2 is 16gb while the one coming with the EVO is half that. But that information has not been stated for the EVO as far as I know.
Sorry I was mistaken about the microsd card said to be included with the EVO 4G it will be a 8GB card. However it’s not much of a deciding factor since you can always buy more.
Thanks SiriusScaper for putting your information and correction!
The mifi was more attractive before last week. Now it is an added monthly fee of $29.99 plus the extra $10 they’re charging for WiMax, so you’re looking at spending an extra $40/mo to have the EVO instead of the HD2. I’m now leaning towards the HD2 with my trusty WMWifiRouter software allowing the 3G to be shared the same way with no monthly fee…
Yes that’s make HD2 first choice for users as not many people want to spend $40/month to use EVO’s features.
