Duplicate Cleaner is a freeware that can find and delete duplicate files in your computer. It can find and delete all kinds of files including MP3, images, word documents and etc. It is able to scan a wide range of music formats including MP3, WMA, M4A, M4P, OGG, APP, and FLAC.
Duplicate Cleaner allows you to set the search criteria for the duplicate files. There are two types of criteria filters including file filter and audio search. To set the criteria for a file search, you must select the File Filter option. The file filter can be set to find files that have same content, file name, size, date, minimum file size, maximum file size and etc. If you want to find duplicate audio files, you can select the Audio Search. The audio filter can find duplicate audio files by searching in the tags for the same artists, title, and album.

To find and delete duplicate files, you must first determine the search path where you want the search to be performed. After selecting a path, you should click on the blue arrow button. To start the search, you can click on the Go button. It takes some time for the software to scan the folders in the directory. The more folders in the directory, the longer the time it takes to finish the scanning process. Typically, it takes about 3 – 5 minutes to finish scanning the folders.

After it had scanned the folders, you will see a list of list of duplicate files under the Duplicate Files section. The Duplicate Files section reveal detailed information about the duplicate files including file name, path, size, modified, file type, MD5, group, artist and title. It will inform you the number of duplicate files on your computer, the number of files scanned and the file sizes. To delete a file, you should check the box beside it and click on the Remove Selected button.
Duplicate Cleaner-Selection Assistant
If the duplicate file is an image, you can select it and click on the Image Preview button to preview it. The selection assistant allows you to select the files according to certain criteria such as modified date, file size and group. For example, if you choose the Select oldest files in each group, the oldest files will be automatically selected in the Duplicate Files section. Under Select for deletion by File Size, you can choose to either select the smallest files or select the largest files in each group. Under Select for deletion by group, you have two options including select one file in each group or select all files. Through the Selection Assistance, you can specify a path and preserve its files from being deleted. The Selection Assistance makes it easier for you to select and delete duplicate files.

The site claims it is freeware but after downloading. It is a trial version and is limited in what it will do in the trail run.
I installed this program but as soon as I went to run it, I instead got a Windows Office 07 installer which got stuck in a loop, and the program never installed. So it’s now been uninstalled.
