The Dell Opus One is the codename of the more powerful version of the Dell Streak tablet. The Streak is already released. The new model will have important upgrades. Find out what the Dell Opus One will do in the near future here in this informative article.
Dell is getting a jump on the internet buzz with their “leak” of the Dell Opus One, Dell’s new tablet. This is going to follow in the footsteps of the earlier Streak tablet that is already available. Some of the outer features are going to stay the same, such as the size of the display. It will be five inches like the Streak, but the resolution will be pumped up.
The resolution for the display of the Dell Opus One will be 800 by 1280 pixels of power. Compared to the 480 by 800 pixels before, it is going to be much easier to view videos and text on this new model. The old model had Gorilla Glass and it is expected that the Opus One will also. Gorillla Glass is at least two times stronger than regular glass. It has come into its calling with smartphones after being developed back in the sixties.
A big change for the Dell Opus One is the processor. The old one had a quick one gigahertz chip, but the new model is rumored to be sporting a dual core processor. This will be running at 1.2 gigahertz and will allow it to do some work in the area of high definition video. Not only that, it will be using less power than the single core of the older Streak. It will likely be made by Qualcomm, the same manufacturer that makes chips for HTC and others.
If the camera stays at five megapixels on the Dell Opus One it will be a surprise. The older Streak had dual LED flash, geo tagging, and auto focus. The new one will get all that plus high definition video if the included camera is of good quality. Knowing Dell, it will be. Look for a secondary camera on the front of the Opus One tablet for video calling.
A big difference in the operating systems will be evident on the Dell Opus One. Android 3.0 will be controlling the tablet. Not many people know that earlier versions of android, such as those on the current Streak do not fully support tablet screens. That problem will hopefully be taken care of with Honeycomb or with version Android Gingerbread 2.3 . Look for Gingerbread if Honeycomb is not ready for the release of this tablet in the Spring.
The old ( present ) model Streak uses Wi-Fi, but only up to the “G” mode. “N” is the fastest Wi-Fi mode available, its five times faster than “G” and should be included in the Dell Opus One. Expect the calling abilities to remain with the new model. Bluetooth is used for making calls, plus 3G connectivity is standard. The memory is a bit anemic on the present model, and hopefully the Opus One will address that.
You can get the present Streak in red and black. The newer model will also come in a color other than just basic black. Look for the battery performance to be even better for the Dell Opus One than it is for the present Streak. The battery is 1530 mAh for the present model and provides an astounding amount of talk time, almost ten hours. The Opus One may even beat that. No prices are announced yet, but the due date is scheduled for May.

I have a current model streak & there is no way you get 10 hours of talk time out of it, Total up time on standby is around 8 hours if your lucky. Who ever wrote this article has not done their research.
Hello Marcoss! Dell Opus One is Table which is coming around May 2011 and talktime is based on information which we received from source.
I’ve returned Dell Streak, simply because published criticisms corroborated. OS update to Froyo victimized by vendor-carrier finger pointing. Conference call with both led to conclusion that update was being rolled out “by region”. Since “roll out” began on Jan 12, I lost patience after 20 days & returned it, specially after learning of better battery use with Opus One. 2nd iteration of most products usually delivers better product.
Okay, So it’s now May of 2011…Anybody have any new news updates on this release or even existence? Best Buy stores in the metropolitan D.C. area are now completely sold out of the Streak5 and I really want that to be a sign that I should wait for the Opus. Would buy directly from Dell & extend ATT contract, but BB offers well-needed protection plan. Everything about the Opus appeals to me, given all the research and comments I have found in planning on buying the Streak.
Someone must know something on the Opus!
