Apple is well known to be one of the most innovative and forward thinking companies today. Whenever Apple introduces a new device, we can usually expect revolutionary and sophisticated features on it. This is true even though a similar device was first manufactured by another company. They always seem to discover a way to develop and improve the original invention. As an example, Apple did this with the iPod against other MP3 manufacturers. They also stormed the smartphone market with the iPhone even though several other manufacturers controlled portions of it.
Now, Apple will try to emulate their previous success with the iPad. Although they created this device for multiple uses, we cannot evade the fact that the iPad sets its targets on the Amazon manufactured Kindle. Below are three main differences between the iPad and the Kindle:
Touch Screen Functionality.
Compared side by side the iPad and the Kindle have an approximately similar size screen, this difference is that the iPad has touch screen functionality that will delight users of the device. It is safe to say that the initial users of the platform will be current or former iPhone users, a similar interface is a big benefit. Also, consumers who do not own an iPhone will definitely be amazed by the touch screen features of the iPad compared to Kindle’s hard button navigation.
Device Functionality.
Amazon created the Kindle for the sole purpose of being an ebook reader. With this device, they present consumers with a similar feeling to when they would sit down and read a paperback book. The iPad was manufactured to give more of an experience than just being an ebook reader. Apple created the iPad with several other innovative features. The iPad has the standard feature of an ebook reader but the device can also function as a mini computer.
Color Screen.
The iPad has a color screen and the Kindle is black and white. In this sense the iPad has an advantage. Given that a majority of consumers are used to color screens, the common user would prefer the iPad over the Kindle. Amazon has claimed that they developed the Kindle with a black and white screen so that users would have a similar feeling of reading an actual book, but if compared side by side with one another, it is more likely that consumers will ultimately select a color device.
The points above are three major differences between the iPad and the Kindle. The factors above can make significant differences for consumers deciding which device to purchase.
