<p>Obesity is defined as a condition in which there is an excess of body fat. Why is there an excess of body fat? Simple, we tend to overeat and forget the importance of exercise. </p>
<p>Studies have shown that the brain plays a major role in why we overeat. The brain is responsible for releasing chemical messengers called noradrenaline and serotonin which regulates how fast we burn calories and how we eat, respectively. </p>

<p>Factors like stress and genetics cause a re-uptake of these chemical messengers making us eat more than we should. The body converts food into energy and if we don&#8217;t exercise often, the excess is stored as fat- body fat! This is shown in the deadly equation: </p>
<p>INCREASE IN CALORIC INTAKE + DECREASE IN CALORIC EXPENDITURE = WEIGHT GAIN </p>
<p>Because of this discovery, studies on weight management have focused on controlling this function of the brain by preventing the re-uptake of noradrenaline and serotonin. </p>
<p>In the early 80s, they were successful in synthesizing a drug called sibutramine. Sibutramine is not a dietary supplement nor is it an appetite suppressant. </p>
<p>You will still eat 3 meals a day, but this time, sibutramine makes you feel full faster so you eat less. </p>
<p>Sibutramine promotes satiety, or the feeling of fullness early, reducing the person&#8217;s usual food intake. This way, the body does not have to store any excess as body fat (of course, the kind of food one eats also plays a role). </p>
<p>Sibutramine also increases energy expenditure with its thermogenesis effect. Thus affecting both equations of the energy balance: </p>
<p>DECREASE IN CALORIC INTAKE + INCREASE IN CALORIC EXPENDITURE = WEIGHT LOSS </p>
<p>The discovery of sibutramine is a major breakthrough in the fight against obesity, especially now that obesity increases the risk of several life threatening diseases. </p>
<p>According to the World Health Organization (WHO) report, obesity has a direct link in causing Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. </p>
<p>The same report also cites obesity as a determining factor in various disorders like polycystic ovary syndrome; musculo-skeletal disorders like back pain; gallbladder diseases and liver abnormalities; strokes and sleep apnea which in severe cases can result in sudden death! </p>
<p>Right now, studies are being done to verify the link between obesity and cancer. </p>
<p>Obesity has evolved into more than a &#8220;weight problem&#8221;. As scientists learn more about how extensive its effects are on the human body, it is quite a surprise to know that in the end, the organ responsible for gaining weight is not the stomach, but the brain. </p>

<p>There are, however, some inconvenient regarding home practicing yoga, such as permanent motives of distraction like domestic duties or children. In order to help you in your attempt to take up home practicing yoga we have come up with a list of six simple steps to follow in order to have a successful yoga session in the privacy of your home.</p>

<p>1. The key to a successful yoga practice is to make time for it every day. Although this might seem impossible for some of you, there are however solutions to this inconvenient. It will work wonders by clearing your mind and rid you of all the tension you accumulated in your body during the day.</p>

<p>4. Make a little investment and purchase a good quality yoga mat and a pair of yoga pants. Whenever you decide to start your yoga exercises put on your special yoga outfit. Your brain and the entire universe will get this specific signal that you are going to devote entirely to yoga practice for the period of time you have established.</p>
<p>5. Set the duration of your yoga practice in advance, before starting the session, according to your personal schedule. Use a time set to signal the end of your session and never finish it earlier. What is important in yoga is not the amount of time you spend doing the exercises the wrong way, aimlessly, but rather doing them for a shorter period of time but remain entirely focused on them.</p>
<p>6. Control your posture and make sure it is always straight. Before starting the session take some moment to calm your mind and relax your body. You can always say a prayer, a few rounds of OM in order to help you relax and start your yoga session properly.</p>
<p>Repeatedly following these six simple steps will ease your way of home practicing yoga. Remember to practice on regular basis in order to see the results and better face the every day problems of life.</p>

<p>For patients with type 2 diabetes, the benefits of physical activity are numerous: improved insulin sensitivity, decreased glucose levels in blood and reduced cardiovascular risk. The most striking demonstration of the therapeutic efficacy of sport is undoubtedly the American study made by the University of Rockville. This study was conducted on more than 3,000 people, all showing strange anomalies in their sugar level in the blood (stage usually preceding the appearance of diabetes). Divided into three groups, they have either received a placebo (inactive product), or an antidiabetic medication or had to follow a program designed to help them lose weight with a specific diet and to practice 150 minutes of exercise per week. After just three years of follow up, 11% of placebo patients became authentic diabetes, 7.8% of those on medication and only 4.8% of those who have changed their lifestyle!</p>

<p>Like any person without diabetes, the return to sport should be done gradually with a gradual increase of effort. But diabetics should also choose a discipline according to their handicap and after consultation with a cardiologist. Some precautions should be taken:</p>

The diabetic must also carefully monitor his blood glucose (before, during and after exercise) to avoid hypoglycaemia, which may occur several hours after the end of the activity. <li>Pay attention to your feet, choose quality footwear. The foot lesions should be particularly monitored in diabetics;</li>
<li>For security reasons, some sports should be avoided. A diabetic collapse would be particularly dangerous while climbing, skydiving, scuba diving, etc.</li>
</ul>
<p>But in most cases, physical activity is an integral part of the treatment of disease. Vector of social integration, the sport also helps improve the life quality of diabetics. So, go ahead and move!</p>
