Apple iPad Review

by Admin on March 16, 2010

You’ve probably all heard of Apple’s latest invention and like us have probably wondered if it is really worth all the attention it has been getting. Well here’s a quick review showing what we think of the iPad.

Responsiveness:

We feel that one of the most important features a handheld device can have, whether it is a Smartphone or tablet PC is good responsiveness. In this department Apple have done an excellent job and have made the iPad extremely responsive to your touch. This is probably down to Apple using the exact same operating system and technology as they used for the iPhone, the only different being that they have adapted it for a larger screen size.

Display:

The iPad features a beautiful 9.7 inch display making watching Movies and TV shows an absolute delight. Apple has once again used the same technology they have used previously for the iPhone 3GS. The colours are extremely clear and crisp on the iPads screen and it is hard to see how Apple could have really made it any better. The only problem we can think of is that it might seem a bit cluttered when reading an eBook, which is one of the primary tasks the iPad was made for. Sure, the excellent quality and great colours are great when browsing the web or playing a game but when reading an eBook all you need is a simple black and white screen. Although because of this, the iPad does have one advantage over other eBook readers and this is that it will have the ability to display full colour pictures and photos in eBooks. Other eBook readers such as the Amazon Kindle can only dream of doing this as they have only a black and white screen.

Connectivity:

The iPad will come in two versions; the first will feature only Wi-Fi connectivity whilst the second version will have both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. This is all perfectly fine and 3G connectivity will make the iPad extremely portable as you will be able to access the Web and Email pretty much anywhere you like. The only problem is that currently this is only available on the US network AT&T and they are charging either $15 or $30 per month, depending on which data plan you go for. We feel that this pricing is a little high and would attract much buyers at around the $10 mark.

Accessories:

The iPad uses the same connector that the iPhone and iPod have. This will mean the the iPad will probably be compatible with many of the accessories already available for the iPhone and iPod touch. Apple also plans to release many accessories specially created for the iPad including an iPad dock and an iPad case. The iPad dock would be a great addition for the iPad as it would almost allow it to be turned into a desktop computer, simply by placing it in the dock. There is also plans to release an iPad camera connection kit which would really be a great addition to the iPad as many people are disappointed that the device doesn’t have a built in camera. It will be interesting to see what else Apple comes up with in the future.

Conclusion:

In conclusion the Apple iPad seems like it is going to be a fantastic device. Will it revolutionise the market like they managed with the iPhone? Only time will tell. Whether or not they achieve this doesn’t really matter as the iPad is a great device and is a great alternative to netbooks and laptops. We would recommend that you at least consider buying the iPad if you are thinking of buying a new computer.” Once you have start using iPad, you may not use netbook or notebook again.
