8 Popular Android Games For Android Phone Lovers

by Admin on September 13, 2010

Android isn’t the first word that pops into your mind when you think about games, but it will probably attain that status pretty soon. Even though the OS didn’t have that many games in the beginning (mostly because of lack of drivers), there are now hundreds of new releases every quarter.

A lot of developers have turned their attention towards this OS, and everyone expects more and better games to be released this and the following years. For now, let’s see the most popular android games for the first half of 2010:

Speed Forge 3D

This was a much awaited game and it hasn’t disappointed. The story is pretty good (reminds me of Fast and Furious, but on Mars and with armored cars :-) , and the cars and tracks are awesome. You can shoot, drop bombs and do other unethical things while you race at break neck speeds on various roads and abandoned mines. The graphics are some of the best on any Android game, and the controls are very good – this game’s got all you need for an enjoyable time spending.

Mystique Chapter 3

Mystique is a very good, immersive 3D game for Android with excellent graphics and sound. It is also a horror story, and it’s pretty good at it. The gameplay involves a lot of puzzles that will open doors and help you escape from a creepy hospital basement and a downright scary hell world. You have to try it to see just how cool it is.

Gem Miner

Gem Miner is a pretty old game, which still hasn’t lost its shine. You play as a rugged old man that goes deep underground in search for gems, metals and other precious things. You probably remember the basic gameplay from the old Nintendo consoles, so there’s really no need for further explanation. I’ll just say the graphics are good and the controls are just perfect.

Colorix

This is the most popular and beloved game for Android and iPhone, and it might just have the most beautiful 2D interface and backgrounds of any mobile game. It is basically like Tetris, only instead of falling blocks, you get rolling orbs, which look very shiny and realistic. This game can make hours seem like minutes once you immerse yourself in it.

Bejeweled

Bejeweled is another puzzle type game that many people find very interesting. You may already be familiar with it from the desktop or Facebook version. The goal in it is to make gems disappear by pairing them up correctly. Pretty simple, yet the game is very addictive.

Armored Strike

This is a fun game to play in multiplayer, but it can also be great for passing time in single player mode against an AI opponent. It’s a turn based strategy like Worms and Scorched Earth, and it gives you a lot of weapons to choose from. The graphics are pretty good, although definitely not at the Speed Forge 3D level.

Bonsai Blast

Yet another game very similar to Bejeweled above, Bonsai Blast features colored bubbles going straight to their death (a hatch with anying yang symbol that swallows them all) and you have to save them by shooting more bubbles at the line from a cannon. Once a certain number of bubbles of the same color are together, they disappear, making the line shorter. It’s also actually much harder than it sounds.

ToonWarz

ToonWarz is a very fun First Person Shooter that pits you against an army of crazy people with swords, guns and what not. The graphics are great and the game play is even better (though the controls are pretty slow sometimes, when you need to turn fast). It’s definitely a worthy addition to anyone’s Android smart phone.

There are many more interesting games for Android, especially if you install the famous SNESoid and Gameboid emulators, which give you even more great hits. The above ones have been voted as the best and most popular many times on the Internet, and who am I to argue? I like them all, and I hope the ones that will be released this year will be even better and more beautiful than ever before.

Sports games are always popular. I’d say PES2011 belongs in this list.

Good job!
