Apple has finally fully released the iPad, a magical and revolutionary device, as they say. Both the Wi-fi only and 3G versions are on sale and ready to be used by their buyers. While its magical properties are in question, there is little doubt that it is a revolutionary device. The iPad is a full fledged universal computer that fits inside a small, almost perfectly sized and lightweight case that is extremely portable and has a long battery life. It can do any light tasks that your laptop and desktop can – from reading emails to surfing the web and editing documents.
Actually, its real limits are still being tested every day, by people and developers who turn it into whatever they want, from a store cash register to a small personal DJ turntable. Maybe you don’t want to use it like that, but there are a couple of apps that you will definitely benefit from, no matter what your personal preferences and occupation are. Here are the best of them:
Taska
This is one of the best task and project management apps for the iPad (of course, there’s Things, but that one costs 4 times as much at $20 while not having much more to offer). It has a very nice interface that emulates papers on a table, and lets you do almost anything you’d like with your tasks, small projects and to do lists. It employs the Getting Things Done system, the most popular and effective around.

Whether you are a celebrity, employee or small business owner, you most definitely already have a Twitter account. Twitterrific is the best client you can find for the iPad, hands down. It has a very nicely structured interface that lets you view all the latest tweets and perform any tasks like replying, posting images and videos, quickly and intuitively.

iBooks
This is a very good ebook reader that comes standard with the iPad, though you may have to install it manually on some models. It allows you to have a great reading experience with 3D animation effects when flipping pages, opening books and scrolling through the library (which is also very well animated and resembles a real life library, with all the books on shelves). iBooks and the Apple ebooks marketplace can give Amazon and their Kindle a run for their money any time of the day.

Evernote is the perfect companion application. It allows you to save pages and bookmarks for later viewing, take written, audio and even video notes, save any files you need, and do much more things that will keep you organized. And with it being available for Mac and Windows and having an online web app, you can easily sync all your information between all of your devices and the online account.

Memeo Connect Reader
If you’re using Google apps (and you definitely should try them out), you’ll find this iPad app very useful. It allows you to sync all of your local files with those in your Google account, and lets you view any kind of file, from PDFs to video and audio files. For now, you can’t edit the files directly inside Memeo, but let’s hope this feature will be implemented in future releases. You can, however, edit them using the iPad’s Safari browser, then sync them using Memeo (I found that a good alternative to paid apps that allow you to edit Google Docs files).

If you like the ABC channel, you’ll be happy to know that they have released their own iPad application. It lets you stream their channel straight to your device, at a good speed and quality, I might say. Now you can get and watch all the good shows together with the bad commercials right on your iPad, wherever you are, as long as you have an Internet connection.

Adobe Ideas turns your iPad into your personal sketch book and whiteboard. You can draw whatever you want, and note down any ideas that come into your mind. It’s a very useful application fro when you have a great idea come to your mind and you need to quickly write or sketch it down or you’ll forget it.

SoundHound
SoundHound is a very cool application for people who like music and listen to a lot of radio. It basically allows you indentify a song by playing it into the iPad’s microphone, either directly from the radio or TV or by singing it yourself (and the accuracy rate and recognition speed are pretty impressive). It’s not really a must have, but it’s a very good tool to have installed and ready for use on your iPad.
