I know you must have heard about WordPress. A lot of people have caught on to the WordPress wave. I am also not excluded. I have been spending my time on WordPress lately and I must say that I am really amazed at the amount of plugins available. Every single feature you can think of, someone has already made a plugin for it. Another great feature of WordPress is its open source nature which allow you to customize any plugin to suit your needs.
I have compiled a list of what I believe is some of the best plugins I know and which I use regularly. This is not an exhaustive list because they are literally thousands of plugins available to use.
WP Super Cache:
Cache normally stores data to make sites previously visited much faster. Imagine a super Cache, this is how this plugin works. It makes pages on your site to load faster and it also stores a static version of your site. It does not take a lot of CPU to get it going.
TinyMCE Advanced:
The editor WordPress uses is the TineMCE. This TinyMCE editor allows you to access features that are normally to visible in WordPress. It helps in the creation of tables and other things which are not readily available unless activated.
HeadSpace:
This plugin provides you with features you need to drive your site all the way up to the top of the search engines. It is more like an SEO pack all in one. This plugins allow you to put your focus on writing content instead of wondering how to use SEO.
Exclude page from navigation:
If you want to hide certain pages on your site you don’t want website visitors to see, Exclude page from Navigation is the right tool that you will need.
Akismet:
Are you bugged down by too much spam on your website, by using this piece of plugin, you will be able to fight spam without moderating your comment submission.
qTranslate:
This neat tool allow you to easily create pages and post that are multilingual. If you have a multilingual website, this nifty tool is all you need. It comes loaded with dozens of languages.
WPtouch iPhone Theme:
As the name implies, this plugin was specifically designed for iphone users but it can also be used by other mobile phones with internet capabilities. It gives your site a pleasant looking simpler version when your site is accessed through a mobile phone.
Viper’s video quicktag:
Many bloggers like to use different video formats on their sites. This plugin allows you to do just that. It is quite versatile and it can be used alongside YouTube and other video sites.
WP-DBManager:
This simple tool allow you to easily backup your website. it has a lot of function but one great function is that it can email you your entire site database on a daily basis.
Google XML SiteMap:
This plugin creates a sitemap for your sites that allow Google to easily crawl your site and index your pages.
